The objective of the project is to discover ecological nature tourism possibilities in the village of Pasmajärvi located in the region of Lapland, Finland. The development work concentrates on specific area called Tirroniemi, a unique natural area where the balance of mind and body, organic food, pure air and experience of the natural wonders of the Arctic meet.
The development project will investigate whether the region has the potential to develop as a nature tourism destination. Instead of wrecking the forests of the villages, the members of the Pasmajärvi Forests Group with other actors of the area will study how to use forests and land in the village of Pasmajärvi; Is there a longer-term value in the forests instead of logging and how can the area be suitable for nature tourism as a part of the village landscape? The project also investigates the international attractiveness of nature tourism through the surveys and aims to create a model which can be utilized in similar areas of Lapland.
